With the smashing success of ASPGB IV, it became apparent to the Committee that we were doing something right. It also became apparent that we would be needing a facility that could accommodate our vastly growing numbers.

Right from the start – which is about 5 minutes after the ASPGB III event was over, the committee knew that ASPGB IV was going to be a big year. We had gone MEGA and now knew that we had the interest, the venue and the ability to hold a really large event!

ASP GEOBASH III (2008)

Changes were afoot when the Committee reassembled in the late summer of 2007 to plan for the next Geobash. One was that the Committee decided to be “stand alone”, that is, no longer be formally sponsored by the local geoclubs in the area. This move streamlined the approval process for decision-making.

ASP GEOBASH II (2007)

Our very first meeting for the second year was held in the Quaker Lake Pavilion, when we disturbed a local resident: a raccoon. What better choice for a mascot? And so it was that this canny and clever beast became the symbol of ASPGB II, on our coin, pins and patches, and our tshirts.

ASP GEOBASH I (2006)

The Allegany State Park Geobash began in 2005 as a cooperative effort among several Geocaching club and organizations: The Kinzua Area Cachers, The Keystone Cachers, and the Allegany County Cachers’ Association (ACCA), who is a supporting club of NYGO.
